Summer, like all the seasons, is associated with certain things, places, and feelings. And just like all the seasons, summer is a perfect opportunity to enjoy some “everyday design”, such as the radiant colors of flowers and bright green grass, or the sound of ocean waves, the smell of sunscreen, and the feel of summer night air.
But in addition to all of this, I recently discovered a new addition that has quickly become a favorite summer tradition. I’m from Oklahoma, and every summer the town of Porter becomes ripe with peaches! This fourth of July, my family and I made a trip to Livesay Orchards in Porter, Oklahoma where we were greeted by the most beautiful array of fresh fruits and veggies. And the main attraction? The peaches!
We promptly purchased a half bushel of the delicious fruit, along with some other treats, such as apple butters and jellies. The open market was laid out beautifully and the employees gave out samples of the different varieties of peaches. They even kept track of which varieties were the most popular by keeping tally on a whiteboard! Additionally, the market was located right next to the orchards, making for an awesome user experience.
As soon as we purchased the peaches, I immediately tried one. There is something amazing about homegrown food. It’s just better. I didn’t really know what to expect when I decided to visit the orchard, but the thought of fresh, juicy peaches will forever be a new summer favorite!
